Post Subject: Water tank sealer

Tony I have been told I have to paint the inside my water tank about every three years. Can you tell me what I use and any possible suppliers. Thanks

Post Subject: Water tank sealer

On a big ship they would probably use cement wash but I fear that would flake off a narrowboat with a built in tank because of all the knocks and bumps. The usual coating is a potable bitumen. Google throws up all sorts of suppliers but I think your local builders' merchant would be a good place to start. Just make sure the can says it is suitable for POTABLE water tanks. Tony Brooks
