Post Subject: stern tube

Hi Being a newcomer to boating please can you tell me what grade of grease I need for the stern tube on my boat, I have a brass type of grease gun with a thin clear tube at Kevintached to it.Many Thanks

I love (not) this forum software - poor old intached Kevin! I suspect any reasonably soft grease will do because it is a total loss system but the readily available ons is (I think - and it is too cold to go out and find the can) is Morris's K99 water resistant grease available from most chandlers but I have used Castrol LM in the past when this was not available. Do NOT use water pump grease it is far too thick to go down the tube. Tony Brooks
