Post Subject: Isuzu 35 narrowboat engine air intake

Hi Tony, have just been browsing other threads which has prompted me to contact you again. My Isuzu 35 has a side air intake, triangular plate with holes, which blocks up quite easily. I was wondering if there was a diy fix such as inserting an old fashioned wire mesh pad pan scourer between the hole plate and the adjacent box cover. Is there a conversion kit to add a filtered intake? Or do I stick with my bent bit of wire to dig out the debris from the intake? Regards, Ray

I am not aware of any official conversion kits. Do not try a wire wool Brillopad type scourer but I suspect a stainless steel "Goldilocks" type scourer may do the trick. If you start to notice the exhaust smoking at higher revs it indicates a lack of air so remove the scourer at once. Tony Brooks
