Post Subject: Inland waterways chart plotter?

Is there such a thing as an inland waterways chart plotter that would provide access to information on the surrounding localities when cruising - and presumably allow the addition of notes that are linked to locations?

I use this one http://canalplan.eu/. You can plot where you are going to and it will work out how long it will take you to get there. Hope it's some good.

Thanks for the suggestion, which certainly looks like a useful additional source of information. Clearly publications like the Nicholsons guides are out there but I was wondering what alternatives might exist. Clearly a true chart plotter would be an 'over the top' approach, but I wondered if anyone might have created a simplified system that might (for exaample) interact with Google maps.
