Post Subject: water heater

First of all you need to think why the Palomar is "useless". Maybe the heat exchanger is furred up inside in which case a kettle descaler may help. Maybe your shower head/strainer in the shower hose union is blocked so there is insufficient water pressure differential across the heater's gas valve. Some showers have a restrictors in a hose union as well. It would also be wise to make sure the gas pressure at the heater is adequate and the control valves/taps are correctly set. If all those are OK then I fear any instant gas heater like a Morco etc. will not give you what you want so you are left with a boiler and calorifier (indirect hot water cylinder). I would go for one of the upright Alde 29xx series of boilers because they are far simpler than the 3xxx series but you may not have room to install it. Trumatic make a gas boiler with integral hot water cylinder. If you have pace and can get a suitable flue then their site (www.truma.com/uk/en/home/index.php) list one as suitable for boat use but again you need space to install it. Tony Brooks
