Post Subject: cav fuel pump

HI I HAVE BMC 1.8 ENGINE IN NARROW BOAT I NEED TO REMOVE THE GOVERNER BODY FROM THE PUMP BUT THERE ARE 2 SPLINED BOLTS TO REMOVE CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT TOOL I NEED FOR THE JOB THANKS

They are like that for a reason. There are no user serviced parts in or under the housing and as you ask abut the tool it rather suggests that you may not be very technically experienced. I must advise you to take the whole pump to your local diesel injection specialist. I think that you are correct that they are of the Spline profile rather than Torx but whichever they are you should be able to obtain a small set of Spline or Torx sockets from a tool merchant.
