Post Subject: Generator v solar v windpower

Are there any reports or articles summarising the pros and cons for supplementing the power from the engine alternator on a narrowboat. We have 6 x 100ah batteries

I am sure there are, and we published one perhaps 18 months ago. If you will forward your email address to Tony@TB-training.co.uk I will email you a copy of my original. If you go searching the Internet please take great care because there is a lot of stuff out there written by "enthusiasts" who perhaps look at things through rose coloured specs. If you have a 600Ah battery bank and without any more info for me to go on my feeling is that a generator is probably the most cost effective at present, but I am guessing at your electrical loads. Solar may be effective during the summer providing you have enough free roof space and sufficient money for the panels. Tony Brooks
