Post Subject: Jabsco pump grease

Hi, Please could you advise what type of grease should be put into the grease cup on my Jabsco pump. The pump is for raw water and is on a 1978 Dawncraft with 1500cc BMC diesel. Thanks Pete

As there is no seal between the grease and water plus the fact that the bearing surfaces of the pump body are probably well worn I would use stern gland grease. If you find the pump has difficulty priming when the engaging is started try some thick water pump grease but you may have to struggle to force it into the bearing area.
