Dear Peter, with the plans currently in place this should eventually be possible, but do not hold your breath. At present I think it would require a foray onto the Wash to either Boston or Kings Lynn. narrowboats certainly do make that journey, but perhaps its getting a bit late in the year. Unless you were to contemplate a trip on the Tidal Severn you must factor in the cost of either a Gold licence or one or two short term EA licences. Vis Boston only requires an EA Thames licence over the standard BW one but via Kings Lynn you would also need a Fens EA licence. I suspect a truck to the Nene may be the easiest option, if not all the way. Tony Brooks

Sorry Peter my reply was not accurate. I have no idea what I was thinking. I do not have a may of the Wash to hand but the passage to the Nene is tidal and I do not think it will be too far on the open sea. You will have to cope with tidal sections on both your river and the Nene so take some local advice and with carefully timing it may well be doable. Sorry Tony Brooks
