Post Subject: Webasto Fuel Pump Noise

Hi All. Any suggestions for insulating the fuel pump on my Webasto heating system to reduce the knocking noise which the pump makes, it is mounted correctly using the rubber collar supplied with the kit. Thanks

Post Subject: Webasto Fuel Pump Noise

Dear Ray - not really because I doubt the Boat Safety Inspector will allow a short length of flexible hose either side of it. Try slightly loosening the clamp and if that does not work you need to make sure the pipes are not under any strain. It is possible you have mounted it on a large flat panel that is resonating and amplifying the noise. If this is the case try fixing an area of (say) 3/4" plywood to the panel and the fix the pump to the ply but make sure the pump fixings do not go right through the ply and touch the metal below. You could also try mounting the pump n the "rubber bobbins" that are used to support car exhaust pipes. Finally make a couple of copper pipes up with a two (say) 3" coils in each and fit these between the existing pipework and pump. Tony Brooks
