Dear Timothy, there are a number of text books on boat electricâs some of which have attracted criticism on their technical correctness but as I have not read them all I can not confirm that or make a recommendation. The one I tend to consult, which is large, costly and perhaps more concerned with seagoing craft, is The Marine Electrical & Electronics Bible by John C Payne ISBN 0-7136-5724-3. However I can not recommend that one unless you have some experience with electrical matters. One of our competitors recently gave these in answer to a similar question: The 12-Volt Bible published by Allard Coles (ISBN 0-7136-6703-6) or Simple Boat Electrics Published by Fernhurst (ISBN 1-898660-25-5). Before you spend any money I would suggest that it is vital that you download and print out the Boat Safety Scheme guide and study the electrical section (http://www.boatsafetyscheme.com/site/GettheGuid e_7.asp) because the boat will be inspected against that every four years. Next download and study two free publications. First follow the links to Electrical and then The 12 Volt Handbook on http://www.motoren.ath.cx and then go to my website and print out the Electrical Course notes. These contain a set of generic diagrams. www.TB-Training.co.uk. Another excellent sight, although rather technical, is http://www.motoren.ath.cx/menus/electrical.html. It is vital that you fully understand the concept and importance of Voltdrop before you even consider starting this project and remember we are always here to give further help. Tony Brooks
