Ihave read articles about double skinned funnels and tar staining-my flue pipe goes through thr collar with an insulating rope inside- the funnels have seen fit to the outside of the collar- does the flue pipe fit to the inner skin? if so how does the tar get back down the flue? a diagram would be helpful- all parts are new but I havnt bought the funnel yet-hope you can help - thanks bob

Post Subject: Fitting flue and funnel

Dear Robert, I can not post sensible pictures on the forum so if you want a diagram please email me and I will send you an answer we published in the magazine a while ago. (address in my profile) I think that if you went to any chandler supplying stoves and had a look at a collar & chimney it would be clear how it all fits. However shop around because not all double skinned chimneys are exactly the same. You want one where the gap between the inner and outer skin as a plate close to the bottom so smoke can not get between the skins. If you get the other sort you can fill the gap with fire proof aerosol foam. Tony Brooks
