Post Subject: Recommended red oxide paint

An experienced fellow boater uses Ameron Amercoat - but when trying to buy this we're told it's obsolete and PPG have no direct replacement. What other red oxide paint do you recommend? Or do you know who may still have Amercoat in stock? Thanks, Richard.

Post Subject: Recommended red oxide paint

This type of question baffles me. We have a highly specialised question about a very specific coating that is only related to boats by the fact the questioner wants to apply it to a boat and to make it even more difficult we are only given cryptic initials to identify an entity that says it is obsolete. The questioner is obviously computer literate because they have posted on here but do not seem to be capable of using Google etc. This is not the only example of questioners who can post to the forum apparently being incapable of doing a Google search. I think you will find this company still have the product you mention available: Otherwise try whatever product is recommended by any of the major marine paint suppliers. Starting with Craftmaster through Hemple, International, etc. To the more general coating specialists like HMG Ltd. Tony Brooks
