Post Subject: HULLS

How long is a piece of string? Do I look as if I have X-ray vision and can read minds? The question is impossible to answer. If you care to provide some more information like the hull builder, the hull specification (thickness), the engine make, mode, age and service record and ditto for the gearbox I might be able to hazard a guess. It would also help to know if it has ever been in a hire fleet or under shared ownership. If it helps there are BMC and Lister engines still going strong after over 40 years, whilst Technodrive gearboxes on Vetus engines seem to be capable of failing under inland boating conditions withing a year or so. Some insurance companies are not bothered about hull condition until the boat is 30 years old - others take an interest at 20.
