Post Subject: outboard motor tiller arm, narrowboat style

Hi,I have a wilderness 23, with an evinrude 15 4stroke outboard, the stearing is via a wheel and cable at present, I would like to convert this to tiller style so that i can stand aft and stear like conventional narrow boats, does anyone know where i could source the right parts, thanks.

Dear Alan, smaller outboards like yours usually come with a combined tiller & throttle attached which is removed when remote steering is fitted. Unfortunately they are designed for use when sitting at the back of an open boat so will not suit your purpose. I fear this is either a DIY or a pay someone to make the bits type task. I also thing the structure would have to be fairly light to avoid snapping the parts of the engine it is attached to. Tony Brooks
