Post Subject: alternator drive

having chewed up a couple of drive belts on leisure battery alternator this season thinking about changing to mlti vee drive for alt. can get pulley for the alternator but can't find where to obtain a crank pulley.the engine is a perkins kfc (2004 manufacture )main agent can't find one will have to find a pulley supplier and workshop to engineer it any thoughts regards ps

I am afraid that I can not help much on this but I trust our readers can. It would help if you told us where the boat is. I think your engine crankshaft pulley may need machining as well so it can accept the multi-V belt. If you are in the north talk to PB Mechanical Services, in the south try Calcutt boats because they fit those pulleys on the BMC 1.8. You could also look in Yellow Pages for your local Bearing & Belt stockists. They may well be able to supply a blank pulley for you to get machined locally. Over to our readers. Tony Brooks
