The short answer is to try your local diesel injection equipment specialist (ask any garage for their name & location) or Calcutt Boats in the south or AMC/Thornecroft in the north. Please be aware that a new pump is likely to be very expensive. Now, BMC 1.5s have something of a reputation for being very hard to bleed and from my experience in trying to help boaters I know that far too many diesel boat owners do not know how to bleed their systems even though they think they do. So before you go spending hundreds of pounds on a new pump it might be a good idea to tell us who told you that you needed a new injector pump, what lead up to the not starting and what has been done, the symptoms you now have like, but not exclusively, how fast the engine spins on the starter and the amount of exhaust smoke that is produced. I trust that you have made absolutely sure that the little stop lever on the pump turret has been pushed fully back to the run position. Tony Brooks

Hi Ricky, I had a problem with my fuel injector pump on my BMC 1500 last summer. It was leaking diesel into the oil sump. By chance I was told about Mick Ogden Diesels at Chorley, Tel 01257 474393. Excellent service and couldn't fault them. They have a very good web site with all the contact details and also do a collect and return service. Regards Ray Moore
