Anodes only have a somewhat limited radius of effectiveness so the middle section of may narrowboats are not protected because they fit a pair at the front and a pair at the stern. Longer boats may have a recess in the hull or some other means of protecting centre anodes but many do not. Put them either side on the front and back swims as close as you can to the parallel part of the hull sides but far enough away from that parts so the curvature of the swim protects the anodes from impact damage. Weld them on and do NOT black them. Tony Brooks
